Prophetic Word: The Last Move of God was the Wilderness!

The Last Move of God was the Wilderness!
Doug Addison

On September 8, 2009, I had a night vision in which I was taken to an aerial view of various parts of the world. I was shown vast landscapes of lush grasslands that were teeming with new life. I could see exotic plants and trees and I knew in my spirit that what I was seeing was a new move from God that had come upon the earth to bring about a radical revival. Suddenly, a massive wave of destruction came upon the greenery. The whole scene was consumed and only a barren wasteland was left in its place. I watched in shock and felt disappointed and distressed at what I had witnessed. Then the audible voice of God spoke to me in the vision and said, “I released something new from Heaven but my people were not ready for it, so I had to bring a wilderness time to purge things that were not of me.”

As I woke from the experience a very strong presence of God was in my bedroom. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that God planned the start of something new in 2005 that would bring about a new level of anointing. This new level was intended to awaken a new revival. But because we were not ready for it, He changed it into a wilderness time instead. From 2005–2009 many people struggled through a major time of purging, testing, and realignment. Wilderness experiences from God are necessary in order to refine and prepare us.

Hosea 2:1415 NIV
“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope … ”

God released many promises to the Church in 2005. Some promises have been delayed and are now being released. Our ministry was located in Los Angeles around that time. We were gathering the resources and people to start a training and outreach center near Hollywood. We had been given a sizable grant to support the work when in 2005 it was though every door closed for us. We eventually gave the grant back and moved to Moravian Falls, North Carolina. We were literally placed in the wilderness (we lived in the woods of North Carolina) and we experienced a very difficult time for three years, including a very limited amount of influence and favor. Then in 2009, we were suddenly sent back to the West Coast to start a training center—this time in Santa Maria, California.

We are now in a time of realignment and restarting. Many prophetic words and promises got sidetracked or delayed, and some are now void because of the sudden switch in the spirit. If you have gone through difficult and unclear times over the past few years, this may very well be the reason why. Had God allowed the new movement to come in the condition we were in, it may have destroyed us. We saw several examples of that over the past couple of years as many leaders fell away from their callings or were entangled in sin.

A time of awakening
Throughout the month of September, I kept hearing a line from a song on the radio, “Wake me up when September ends.” This is very much like the call going out from God right now—He will be waking many of his people up in the month of October. This is the time to press in to God and ask Him for more clarity. We will all see some type of answered prayer during this month. You will need to watch for it. Those who are not paying attention may miss this fresh time of God’s visitation. God is visiting our situations, our families, jobs, relationships, and ministries, and a trumpet blast is going out to call people to awaken! We will see some strange events in the months to come and a massive amount of sudden changes and turnarounds. If we stay centered on God, we will not be shaken.

Check for yourself—think back and look at the year 2005 and see if anything unusual happened. Were you going one direction when things switched and seemed to dry up? As I have asked people this question, I am hearing story after story of how God had either made a promise that didn’t seem to work out, or some even saw a new move of God start that suddenly got cut off.

This is what I believe God is saying, “Just as suddenly as things changed and were cut off in 2005, I am now renewing and reviving situations—suddenly! I am parting the Red Sea once again and making the impossible possible. Watch me and give me glory as your life and ministry are restored and renewed in this very hour.”

Prayer: “God, awaken us to what you are doing in our lives right now. Give us eyes to see and ears that can hear what you are doing. Amen.”

Well, I am one who has been saved since the age of 14 and I am now 47. I too have waited on the promises of God without wavering. My world has literally been shaken up for years. During the years mentioned, things were probably more intensified. My relationships, finances, and mostly everything else has been depleted. I know God is now working things out because I feel a shifting taking place. My life was so out of control that I literally thought I had done something wrong. I received confirmation from this sight as well as a few others that it was just a wilderness thing. I’ve literally waited my whole life and have never been with a man or done anything that I believed to be sinful although I have been literally hanging by a thread at times. I’m just so happy to know that things are changing and that I will finally see the blessings of God after all of these years. Thanks for the word. Any insights will be appreciated.

I am from Papua New Guinea, I read this message and I am very blessed. I will share it with my family tonight. I worked for a semi-government body in Agriculture and attend a Pentecosal ministry but belong to the Catholic and evengalical background.

From 2001 to 2005 our ministry flourshed and we were realing riding on high. In 2003, my family realy enjoyed the presence of God at home. Then at the end of 2005 I got out of the ministry. In 2006 my family struggled and in 2007 to 2009 my family realized that we were literly dried up. The presence of God disappeared. What really helped us most was, we didn’t fall into any big sin which would drive us out completely. Today I am blessed by this message because, I am begining to see some activities which confirm that God is working in our lives. We are always looking forward to a bigmove of God that should sweep through the whole world and bring back to the kingdom the lost. Thank you. From Papua New Guinea.

This word so rings true. I have prayed for a marriage partner since 2002. In 2005 I met the man I knew was the one. He was everything I had asked God for. Everything was going great, and then suddenly he decided he wanted to be with a different woman. It was as if the door was nailed shut. Recently he is single and has begun to talk to me again. I keep praying and waiting to see what God will do.

p.s. After meeting this man I asked God for confirmations that he was the one. I got three AMAZING, UNBELIEVABLE, confirmations in one day! I was so sure this was it and then the door closed.

Tammy – hearing God tell us who we will marry can be tricky. Even if it is God’s will (or desire), the other person has the opportunity to say no since God will never force His will on anyone. I the person did say no then you get believe that God has someone for you!!

Just a few weeks ago a friend of mine had a dream that he saw the a gravestone with the dates ____2004 – November 25, 2009 and then underneath it said MOSES. I felt like I knew what it meant right away, that it was the end of the season of wandering in the wilderness. A lot of us in Vancouver have been feeling like we are wandering in the wilderness, so when I heard this dream it gave me a lot of hope. Someone forwarded me this link and I was amazed to hear this word that was such a confirmation of what we were feeling. For me, the last few years have been really tough, to the point where I have almost lost my faith. Just in the last week or so I feel like my faith has been renewed and I desperately want his presence again. Thank you for posting this!

Hi, Doug. I’m plugged into the Vineyard in Goleta. I’ve been involved with the Vineyard since 1984- Anaheim & John Wimber. For me, the last two years have been an incredibly difficult time of trials and testing. I have suffered some great losses- financially and relationally. I remember the date that it began for me- September 30, 2005. God has stripped me bare! I’ve lost everything of any “wordly” value. My “faith” has been severely tested. I’ve lost my joy but not my Faith. This prophetic word has been an encouragement to me, thank you. I plan on attending the Santa Maria conference in November with a group from the Goleta Vineyard. I approached you when you spoke at our Sunday service a while back, but you seemed preoccupied. Maybe we can connect and talk at the conference about my dreams.

WOW, after reading the comments, i realize i have been in the same slow boat to 2009 from middle of 2004. I just found out this summer after foot X-rays, that my foot was broken. I remember exactly the day it broke, but there was no sharp pains at any time. I just though i sprained it after jumping off the back of a 5 ton truck when making a delivery. It was only when my foot swelled up and i went to the hospital in July, that led to the x-rays. This toe or bone break was even hidden from the doctor 18 months ago when i had a full physical. Even my own doctor then missed the break.
Now i am happy after they first though i had cancer 19 months ago or gout in July. I was so happy it was only a broken foot. they rarely cause death…LOL.
Doug, please pray about having an alternate fuels outlet in Santa Maria. I have used all the alternate fuels in commercial vehicles over the past 25 years and i have had California on the brain for the past year. there is plenty of clean private money available to develop and expand this business. I love propane and have used it the most but bio-diesel has a big demand among truck owners and smaller fleets. Lots of treehuggers in LA area that would promote it for free as part of their belief system.
Let me know Doug. Blessings to you and your ministry in Jesus name.

    Doug:

The example of Jonah you gave, “Jonah brought a prophetic word to Nineveh of destruction but they repented so the prophetic word was void” only appears to be voided. The truth is Nineveh was destroyed later. God fulfilled His Word. The city of Nineveh and the people were only sparred for a season and eventually were destroyed.

I find it difficult to believe God’s prophetic Word to become void…ever. I do find it reasonable to believe that the “Many prophetic words and promises got sidetracked or delayed, and some are now void because of the sudden switch in the spirit” may not have be truly inspired by God’s Holy Spirit.

The test for a prophet is found in Deuteronomy 18:20-22. This scripture teaches that a prophet must be tested by checking his prophecies.

Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Walt, it is not all cut and dried as you are trying to make it. I really am not into arguing doctrine… in you search for doctrinal purity we can miss all the great testimonies of people being touched by this article. You can believe what you want but my extensive experience with prophecy is that it is subjective and can change based on the responses of others and the fact that God can indeed change His mind based on our responses too. I really wish I had time to walk you through this but I honestly don’t since I travel so much. We are the Body of Christ. The Body is sick because it is always judging its self. What I said does not violate the Bible and is based on how I interpret it. I appreciate your heart, but be sure to not give up love. Hey when I get a chance I will try to find my research on understanding prophesy: the difference between being being inaccurate, seeing in part, and an actual false prophet.

    Hi Doug.

Could you explain “Many prophetic words and promises got sidetracked or delayed, and some are now void because of the sudden switch in the spirit”?

If these prophesies were from God, how do they now become void?

    Thank you for your response.

Walt: Prophecy can be subjective based on how people respond. Prophecy is God’s intentions for us. Example: God tells you that you will marry a particular person but that person does not respond (there is still choices on our part), then that prophetic word would become void. Jonah brought a prophetic word to Nineveh of destruction but they repented so the prophetic word was void. There are many examples of this in the Bible. Some prophecy just happens based on God’s sovereignty, in other cases it is subject to our decisions to obey or others to respond. The good news is that our lving Father is always willing to give us good things!

Great to hear what you shared. Been in a (great awakening) turmoil the past few yrs. But, I think it’s finally coming together. Knowing the purpose of the ‘Valley of Achor’ that I have been in. I believe now if we would have gone out in what we wanted, or thought, we were being called too, we may have sufferered more.
In light of that, I did have a dream, it could have been in 2005, it’s been a few yrs ago.
In the dream, there was a king who came into his new brides’ chamber. The queens, maids or servants were all moving around doing there stuff, but the queen was asleep. The king sat down and sighed. He said, ‘It’s been three years, and she still sleeps.’
Then I woke up, I wanted to have her wake up, but she didn’t.
So, hopefully, I, we, the church, is waking up.

It’s reassuring to hear so many similar stories. Life has been h–l for the last four years. Nothing I have set my hand to would prosper. Jobs suddenly ended every December for the last three years. Plans to finally finish college were jerked out from under me in August leaving my head spinning. Hope and expectation are slowly beginning to rise up again. I believe there is going to be a breakthrough before the end of the year. Thanks for giving perspective to the last four years.

Hope and expectation are slowly beginning to rise up again. I believe there is going to be a breakthrough before the end of the year. Thanks for giving perspective to the last four years.

Once again Doug you have brought Truth and encouragement to my husband and me. We have been following your blog for over 3 years and took your prophetic evangelism class in Orlando. It was one of the best things we ever did! But we too have felt all that you described and wondered how we missed God.
It has been a fight to continue pressing in.
God did a suddenly this summer and relocated us from Central Florida all the way to your neck of the woods- Santa Barbara (our house is in Buellton). We are not sure what kingdom purpose He has in mind but we know we are on the threshhold of something exciting!
We uphold you in prayer and share your blog often with family members.
May you walk in abundant energy and joy!!!

Thanks Doug. I am much more at peace with myself and God after the past 4 years. Walking through the wilderness alone with God makes me remember how much I really like to hang out with him and hold his hand. I feel more rested and ready to move forward again.

    Thanks Doug!

While I was reading I was going like: Tadaah! There it is..! This really answers some questions I had about the last couple of years.
My business went down and I lost it when God had given us great promises. I went through a time of learning to lean on and trust in God, when it comes to provision but also when it comes to achieving my dreams. I had to give it all back to God and not draw my own plan if you know what I mean. Since 2 weeks the company I work for offered their company to me! Not to buy it but to take it over! I was like: oh that’s what God was setting me up for… This take over includes some debts and stuff like that so we are still in the process of negotiation but I know in my heart that it’s mine! So your message is really supportive and stirred me up big time!

    Thanks!

    Doug,

Thank you for sending out this vision and interpretation.

Something about this (along with other examples of God’s ways – even from the Bible) is perplexing to me. God knows the future. He lives outside of time. Therefore, God knew ahead of time that when He released something new in 2005, that His people wouldn’t be ready for it….

    Any insights about this? Thanks!

Russ – If you can answer that questions you have a bestselling book! There are different schools of thought… many examples in the Bible show that God gives us all a full chance at what He wants to release. If we are not ready or get off track He can change His mind or delay it. But to be fair and just, He must give us a chance at it. Not to mention the lesson we get to learn in the process. I know that I really learned one and it was valuable training.

Yes and amen. I just preached a word the Lord gave to me about wilderness dwellers and John the Baptist. His prophetic and apostolic people will be the voices in the wilderness that will draw others out to the desert to hear what the Lord is speaking right now for their lives.

This is very true for me as well. 2005 my marriage was in turmoil. After that it seemed like there was no stability anywhere, job, marriage, relationships. Everything was being shaken. It was a very difficult season. In December 2008, I felt like I was being squeezed as if in a cocoon, pressed on all sides. January 2009, God said that I had been through the fire and I’ve passed the test. That was very encouraging to me because during that season, I had points where I didn’t know how much longer I would be able to hang on. But God, in His faithfulness, protected me and did not allow me let go, but to keep pressing through. I had come too far to quit, yet felt weak and weary from the battle. So, when God said that I had passed the test, it actually felt I was in a new season. I have had to continue to press in this year, and I do feel that I am making progress and also felt that September was a key time for a shift into the new things that God is doing in many of us and for many of us. This is our time!!! Doug, your word is very timely. Thank you, Doug; and THANK YOU JESUS!!!!

woooooow. im speechless. Although I knew God was re-positioning me, I was SO GLAD when September was over; it was very “transitiony” But all that you’ve have said has been the last 4 years of my life. I have been sensing this was the season and have been sensing the birthing pangs of 2009. Though many times I wanted to give up, Im glad im still standing- believing in faith. Im looking for a “suddenly” yet things have already begun to turnaround- praise God. Thx for the blog!

Doug, thank you for that word. If you go to facebook and to my notes, look up the calling out the bride. I had a vision and Lord showed me how He saw the bride and then He showed me the outcome turnaround! He is waking up the bride. She has been asleep too long. I turned 50 this yr and He told me to go look and see what happened in 1959. One of those things where SLEEPING BEAUTY was released! There were some other significant things as well. This word really touched me. I had some things happen in 2005 and all dried up. I am in a transition and although I have been ministering and in a worship band and sing prophetically, Lord is calling me north to awaken the bride. I need to be close to my family for a season so I understand the wilderness in the mountains. My son lives in Strasburg VA which is between 2 main mountains. He’s right in the middle of the Shenandoah VALLEY! I just feel there is going to be an outpouring. Thank you for this word. God bless you. Deborah Waring – warring for God 24/7
